Female Health workers (FHW)

Kismaayo, Somalia

Re-Advertisement of New FHWs (3) and FHS (2) Recruitment

Community based health workers (FHWs) are recognized as one of the cost-effective ways to address barriers in access to primary health care, improving the continuum of integrated care, delivering results and bridging the gap between health care delivery system and the communities.

In addition, a well-designed community-based health workers’ approach within a primary health care system is considered to be an effective strategy for moving towards the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Role of Marwo Caafimaad programme is to bring high quality integrated health services to the doorsteps of communities through community-based female health workers (FHWs).

The implementation of a Marwo Caafimaad Programme in selected districts with proper trainings, coordination and supervision systems will help in achieving governments’ health-related Sustainable Development Goals and Universal Health Coverage, especially goals relating to maternal and newborn health as well as all health sectors.

The Jubbaland Ministry of Health is planning to recruit new FHWs in Kismayo to scale up the recruitment of FHWs and FHS cadres in 2022 and to increase the FHWs coverage in terms of community health service delivery at household level by targeting maternal and child health indicators.
